Day 1 - Arrive in Menton
This famous seaside resort is not far from the Italian Border. Spend time discovering its beautiful old town and its lovely gardens. Overnight stay in your hotel.
Day 2 - Menton to Sainte-Agnès
High mountains rise up just behind Menton. You’ll walk through picturesque villages such as Castellar and Sainte-Agnès. Beautiful scenery with the sea below. Tonight and tomorrow night we dine and overnight in Ste- Agnes in a small 2* inn looking out on to the bay of Menton.
Day 3 - Ste-Agnès to Ste-Agnès:
Today your walk takes us to the top of Mont Baudon (1,266m). This summit will give you an extraordinary 360° view of the mountains and the sea. Dinner and overnight stay in our Ste-Agnès inn.
Day 4 - Ste-Agnès to Menton
Your walk today is a combination of Mediterranean scents, alpine flora, scrub land and pine forests. Your first stop of the day will be in Gorbio, a lovely little medieval village, really isolated from the tourist crowds of the nearby coast. It is perched on a hilltop forested with olive groves, and surrounded by towering rocky mountains.
The village is arranged in a long oval of medieval narrow streets and many vaulted passages. After a refreshing ‘pit-stop’ you continue along the Balcon d’Azur to Roquebrune-cap-Martin. This is a very different medieval perched, located between Monaco and Menton, east of Nice.
The old village is dominated by the 10th century chateau-fort that seems to grow massively from the rocks. There are lovely little squares and fountains, wrought-iron balconies and other charming discoveries. Overnight stay in your hotel in Menton.
Day 5 - Menton to Beaulieu-sur-Mer
Incredible views, nature and the skyscrapers of Monte Carlo is what awaits you on today. You’ll enjoy visiting the Principality and discovering La Turbie, a medieval village on the busy road junction of the Moyenne Corniche on the way to Monaco.
Don’t be too much of a hurry, or you’ll miss a picturesque Medieval village and, for those of you interested in European and Roman history, the famous Trophée des Alpes or Trophy of Augustus, originally a 50m high monument to the power of Rome and the glory of Augustus.
Now only 35m high and half in ruin, it’s still an imposing monument, over 2000 years after it was built. Overnight stay in a 2* hotel in the seaside town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
Day 6 - Beaulieu-sur-Mer to Nice
A marked path will guide you along the wild coastline of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Walk along the beach through Villefranche-sur-Mer and reach Nice via the foothills. Fantastic views in natural unspoilt surroundings. Your hotel is in the town centre making it easy for you to explore the town the following day.
Day 7 - Nice
The tour ends today after breakfast. We suggest that you take your time to visit Nice – the old town, the flower market and the Promenade des Anglais are just a few things to see in this ever popular city.
